Meet Kevin Kee

Picture
Kevin Kee. Hey everyone, what up? I am a Philly Sports Die Hard, and like most of you, the 2008 Phillies World Series Win was one of the greatest moment of my life. Now I am not a genius when it comes to the 76ers but I will tell you how I feel and how I think the team can get better. I am a big Flyers fan who has a different view of the Flyers then most fans do. I am very critical of the Eagles and will keep you covered on all things Eagles. I am a season ticket holder for the Phillies and love heading down to the games.

I fell in love with Philadelphia Sports as a child. My dad would take me to the autograph signings throughout the area, where I would meet Philly greats, like Mike Schmidt, Ron Hextall, Steve Carlton, and Bobby Clarke. I also loved, and still love going to sporting events with my dad, it is because of him I became such a nut.

This page came about through my Facebook where I would post all Philadelphia Sports news, some friends liked it, some didn't, so I decided to create a fan page, The Philly Phans, and then it become this blog. I hope you all enjoy it.

Favorite Teams: Phillies and Flyers
Favorite Athletes: Cliff Lee, Jeremy Maclin, Danny Watkins, Claude Giroux, Chris Pronger

Note: Kevin is the founder of the Philly Phans and runs everything that goes on the website, Facebook, and Twitter. He is constantly working his hardest to bring you the top stories in Philadelphia Sports.

Meet Eddie Smith

Picture
Philly Phans what up?! My name is Eddie Smith. I was born and raised to adore Philly sports in all aspects. All of my baby toys consisted of footballs, baseballs, and basketballs. My attire was only Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers every single day. As most Philly sports fans, it all began watching games on TV with my dad and my family. Growing up basketball was my first love. With that said I adored the Sixers the most. When I hit about the age of 10, I absolutely fell in love with Eagles. Everything about them made me happy (through the good and the bad.) My dad took me to my first Eagles game when I was 13, and it was a wrap since them. The Phillies are a huge part of my life as well. I agree with Kevin up there, when they won the World Series in 2008, it was one of the happiest moments of my life and I will never forget it. I look forward to Kevin, Joe, Mike, and myself to provide you all with everything you need Philly sports. Later guys!

Meet John "Roose" Russo

Hey Phans. Some of you may know me already from my previous works but for those who don’t, my name is John Russo aka Roose and I am the founder of the Phillies blog “Team to Beat,” established in 2009. In the past year, I met your own Kevin Kee along with John Shields and we’ve formed a bit of a merger between our two blogs. “The Philly Phans” is an incredible Philadelphia sports blog, bringing excellent news coverage to the site, Facebook and Twitter. I am thrilled to be a part of it, writing mostly Eagles football and chipping in a little on Phillies baseball and Flyers hockey.

A little about me: Grew up in South Jersey as a diehard Philadelphia fan (yes, even the Sixers) as well as Penn State football. I’m a sports reporter, covering high school football for the Daily Journal in Vineland as well as running a full time Phils blog.

I look forward to showcasing my talents with more Philly fans like myself!

Meet Carl Naimoli

Picture
Yo whats up Philly Phans. I'm Carl Naimoli and Philly sports is my life. I have been a die hard Philly sports fan since childhood. I still have the Eric Lindros and Allen Iverson posters in my room since I was ten years old.

I still remember some of my earliest memories of Philly sports. Whether it was going to see Mickey Morandini and the Phillies or watching Allen Iverson cross over Michael Jordan. Most of those memories aren't too good because of the bad sports years of the late 90's, but it soon got better and some of my favorite teams ever are the Phillies of '08 and the Sixers in '01.

My passion for Philly sports has lead me to where I am today, which is announcing football games for West Chester and having an internship with 97.5 The Fanatic. I can't wait to see what happens next in Philly sports.

Meet John Shields

Picture
Good tidings to all! My name is John Shields and I am your newest member of the Philly Phans. When it comes to sports; baseball is my top game. I am a diehard baseball fan which includes anything and everything Phillies. I may just be the biggest Phillies fan you will ever meet and I challenge anyone who thinks they can top me. The single greatest moment of my life was attending Game 5; Part 2 of the 2008 World Series and seeing my favorite team win the World Championship! My next favorite sport is College Basketball while I follow the SJU Hawks and Gonzaga Bulldogs.

I was not a big hockey fan a few years ago, but due to continuous exposure to diehard hockey fans while in college, I have become an avid hockey follower with the Flyers being my number # 1 of course. I am still a Sixers fan even with the rough times they have been experiencing for the past few years. When it comes to football, sorry to say, I am not an Eagles fan in the least. Sorry to disappoint. I am a Steelers fan and have been for awhile.

However, as I said before, baseball is my sport. When I first signed up to play tee ball, I barely knew what the game was. The minute I stepped onto the field, I was hooked. From that time I have loved everything Phillies and have been a diehard fan. As I said before, just try to find a person who is a bigger fan than I am of the Phillies.

Meet Casey Simpkins

Picture
Hey there Philly Phans! My name is Casey Simpkins and I guess you could say I’m a 3 for 4 Philly Phan, as I am not a basketball fan in any way (Sorry Sixers faithful).  Though I follow the Phillies and Eagles as close as any Philly Phan, the team I have the most passion for is the Flyers, which is why I will be strictly writing blogs about the Flyers. My love for Philly sports derived from the time I spent as a child with my father, learning how to play ice hockey, football, and baseball, and rooting for my hometown teams as result. From the moment I even knew what sports were, I have been going to games with my Dad and of course my friends as well.  Like all Philly Phans, I am extremely passionate and critical, and I always make sure I research before making statements about the teams or players.  Overall, I am extremely excited to be able to share my views and opinions on the Flyers with you phellow phans during such an excellent era in Philly sports.

Meet Justin Diaz

Picture
Yo phans, I’m Justin Diaz, but my friends just call me Diaz. As long as I can remember my life has revolved around Philly sports. From Lindros to Richards, Hoying to Vick, Stackhouse to Holiday, and Person to Halladay, I’ve been in love with this city and its teams. I’ve cried both tears of anguish and joy over these teams, just like many of you. I cried both when watching the ‘09-’10 Flyers, undoubtedly my favorite team in my eighteen years of fandom. When fist-pumping to Al Saunders’ call of Boosh’s save to send us to the playoffs in my car, I had no idea that the Flyers would take us on the greatest and most dramatic playoff run I have ever seen. Game 4 of the Bruins series, which I was fortunate enough to attend, was the most electric atmosphere I have ever been a part of. When I bought my seats at the very top of the Mez (money is tight for a student, you know) I had no clue I was about to witness the beginning of history. I’m going to cover the Sixers for the Philly Phans. My dream is to one day cover our teams professionally, and writing for the Philly Phans is a great way to get started on that dream. I hope you guys enjoy my Sixers pieces as much as I’ll enjoy writing them.
