The Philadelphia Union have one victory in six games. That one win came in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field, where they will be playing on Saturday.
Now this is the first season in existence for the Union, and much like other professional teams first seasons, it is a losing one. Now the Union have had flashes of success this season, especially with Sebastian Le Toux.
Le Toux is the leading scorer fir the Union and their best player, but recently he has been injured. Filling in for Le Toux is another bright spot for the Union, 17-year old Jack McInerney. McInerney scored the Union's only goal versus the LA Galaxy, who is one of the top teams in MLS.
Now there are reasons why first year teams aren't successful. A whole new group of guys have to work with each other. That means veterans from other teams/countries working with a whole new group of guys. Veterans need to work with teenagers, who may not be all there. They have to work with a new playbook and a new coach, that ttakes a while to learn effectively.
The good news for the Union is that they are undefeated at Home, because they have only played one game at home. However, watching that game really opened up strong fan support for the Union. Watching the game on T.V. you could tell the Linc was loud and rowdy. The fans really helped will that game about a month ago.
The Union return Home on Saturday versus FC Dallas.
