ESPN New York reports:John Maine remains unsigned, but the Philadelphia Phillies continue to appear the most likely landing spot for the right-hander, a baseball source told ESPNNewYork.com.
Maine is coming off of shoulder surgery but his agent tells ESPN New York that the pitcher is feeling good.
Maine had nine starts last year, where he went 1-3 with a 6.13 earned run average. He has a 4.35 career ERA over seven seasons in New York and Baltimore.
Knowing the Phillies have the starting five and Kyle Kendrick in the bullpen, it is hard to see where Maine would fit on the Phillies roster.
In his career, he has only appeared in three games in which he was not the starter.
