Yesterday, during game one of the double header, Carlos Ruiz limped off the field with a knee injury. Ruiz, who was going to get the second game off during the double header, was taken out with a knee injury and is now day-to-day.
Paul Hoover came in for Ruiz and looked a little shaky behind the plate.
Hoover was expected to start game two even before Chooch went down. The problem for the Phillies last night was who would catch if Hoover went down. Luckily the game was postponed.
Last season Jayson Werth was the "Emergency Catcher", so one would assume that Werth would have caught if Hoover was injured.
With Ruiz out day-to-day expect the Phillies to make a roster move soon to backup Hoover.
Note: Catcher Brian Schneider is on the 15 Day DL.
Phillies injured this year: Rollins, Blanton, Happ, Lidge, Madson, Romero, Ruiz, Schneider, Castro, Polanco.
