The Philadelphia Phillies fell last night to the St. Louis Cardinals. Joe Blanton, coming off of an injury, pitched very well for the Phillies and should have been pulled earlier then he was. Blanton should have been pulled after 6 innings last night and not be brought in to pitch the 7th, but at this point of the game Manuel was tossed. The bench coach for the Phillies decided that the Phillies were better off with Blanton pitching the 7th, he was wrong.
Blanton allowed 2 runs before being pulled out for Nelson Figureora, who then game up 4 more runs, killing Blanton's solid game and raising his ERA. This decision ultimately cost the Phillies a 6-3 loss.
Now I am going to talk about what everyone is talking about, the taser incident. According to Philly.com and our friends at CrossingBroad.com Steve Consalvi, a 17 year old Senior from Boyertown High School, called his dad before running onto the field last night. He told his dad that he wanted to run on the field and it would be a "once in a lifetime opportunity". His dad then told him that it would be a "stupid idea". Steve then decided to run on the field during the 8th inning of the ballgame, only to be tasered by a Philadelphia Police Bike Cop.
I am certainly for the tasering of the idiotic kid who decided to gain his 15 minutes of fame, which he is getting now. It was a bad decision on the teenager to run on the field during the game, especially because there are constant warnings against running on the field.
According to Consalvi's facebook page he "likes going to Phillies games". So lets be honest, if you like going to Phillies games you know the rules.
Consalvi has taken too much of my time today, and deserves to be criticized more then praised. Yes he will be praised in his High School for being on Sportscenter and the news, praise that I think is undeserved,
The Philadelphia Police have officially put a warning out there for all fans, you run on the field, you're going to get tased.
