Eagles sign Vince Young
By Kevin K
Last night on our page we ran with the story by Clark Judge that the Eagles signed Vince Young. There were no other sources on this, but it was off and running on the Philly Phans Facebook and Twitter to the point where the Philly Phans were trending in Philadelphia.
At 12:00 am, Albert Breer came out with a report confirming that the Eagles signed QB Vince Young to a 1 year deal. Young officially signs today and the official announcement will occur at 6:00.
Young will backup QB Mike Vick during the 2011-2012 season after the Eagles traded Kevin Kolb to the Cardinals.
This is a good signing for the Eagles, low money for only one year. If anyone can get Vince Young back on the NFL track it is QB genius, Andy Reid. (And yes, I called Reid a genius).
Vince Young will arrive to Lehigh Saturday, but is unable to practice until August 4th.
A very busy day for the Eagles
By Kevin K
I woke up this morning to the news that Albert Haynesworth was traded from the Redskins to the Patriots and the news that Reggie Bush was traded from the Saints to the Dolphins. These two moves alone cut from Eagles fans "wish lists" and started a crazy day for the average Philadelphia Eagles fan.
The first big news for the Eagles was the signing of DE Jason Babin to a 5-year deal. Babin's contract is worth $30 Million with $7 million guaranteed and is very front loaded. (Adam Caplan said that this deal would be done before the weekend. Great call by him).
Babin returns to the coach that put him in the Pro Bowl last season in Jim Washburn. Washburn is a huge influence on how well Babin can and will do this season.
Babin and Trent Cole are excited to work with each other as the defensive ends of this team, Cole saying "hunting season begins".
Who knew that this wouldn't be the biggest news of the day? Well, we all really did. The anticipation of a possible Kevin Kolb trade to the Cardinals is all we have really been talking about since last season ended.
Well now it is official. The Eagles traded QB Kevin Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second round draft pick. Kevin Kolb gets a 5-year extension worth $63 million and a little more than $22 million guaranteed.
This move gives the Eagles the cornerback that they needed to make their defense better in 2011-2012.
Rumors
Now to continue the rumoring ways, Vince Young was released by the Titans this afternoon. The Eagles have expressed interest in Young and could sign him as a backup Quarterback for Michael Vick.
A report out of San Diego reports that RB Darren Sproles is on the Eagles radar. "New Orleans, Philadelphia, and the Chargers are the final 3."
