Eagles End 10-6
By Kevin K
If I were to tell you the Eagles would go 10-6 and win the NFC East before the start of the season you wouldn't believe me ... I know because I did and you didn't. Sure I never factored in Michael Vick getting the starting spot, however, I did say they were going 10-6.
Yesterday in a game that seemed like the Eagles were going to get blown out by the starters (besides QB) of the Cowboys, the Eagles backups held their own. The offensive line for the Eagles was bad in protecting Kolb leading him to bad throws and constant hits, but HB Jerome Harrison and WR Chad Hall were very impressive for the Eagles. Hall had 6 receptions for 84 yards and 1 TD. Hall by far was the bright spot for the Eagles and will get more playing time in the playoffs. The same goes for Harrison who had 99 yards on 21 carries (4.7 YPC) and also had 17 yards on 5 receptions.
Hall and Harrison were very impressive offensively for the Eagles as they gave fans a bright spot to watch when it came to the Eagles backups.
Another bright spot was the Eagles backup defense. Led defensively by veteran LB Omar Gaither (10 tackles), the Eagles backups held the Cowboys starters to only 1 Touchdown. They shutdown the explosiveness of Miles Austin, Roy Williams, Felix Jones, Marion Barber, and Jason Witten. All of the Eagles backups on defense played very well and should all get some rotation time in the playoffs and I honestly wouldn't be worried.
The Eagles fell late to the Cowboys 14-13 on the Cowboys final drive on offense.
The backups were very impressive for the Eagles and no fans should be upset with this Eagles loss.
Eagles Defeat the Cowboys
By Kevin KThe Eagles defeated the Cowboys 30 to 27 to move to 9-4 on the season and ½ games up in the NFC East over the Giants, who play Monday Night versus the Vikings. Story: The Eagles went into Dallas on Sunday and took care of business. The electrifying offense was at it again for the Eagles as Michael Vick lead the way for the Eagles going 16 for 26 with 270 yards 2 Touchdowns and 2 Interceptions. Vick also had a rushing Touchdown for the Eagles (7 TDs on the season is the most of any Eagles QB). However, Vick wasn’t the star in this one. The best players on the field tonight were three of the Eagles. Three Stars: Let’s start with DeSean Jackson. Jackson had 210 receiving yards on 4 receptions and had 1 touchdown. Jackson who said after the game, “I won’t lie, I am hurting” turned his swagger on early in this game and was utilized to beat the defenseless Cowboys defense. Jackson was the game changer throughout this rivalry game and his effort changed the game and opened it up for the Eagles. With 210 receiving yards, Jackson is now Todd Herremans was fantastic in the Eagles win over the Cowboys. An offensive lineman, Herremans is usually not admired for his strong play, however, tonight that changed. Herremans played strong the entire game and was ready for action against the division rival Cowboys. Herremans lead the way for Vick, Jackson, and McCoy to succeed in this game. Not only did Herremans do a great job blocking for the Eagles, he also had his second career Touchdown reception in this game. Herremans strong efforts allowed him to get one of Chris Collinsworth’s game balls of the night. Another star in this one was Quintin Mikell. Mikell played extraordinarily well in this one as he was all over the place making play after play for the Eagles defense. Q stepped up big time when MLB Stewart Bradley was knocked out of the game with a dislocated elbow. Mikell lead the way for the Eagles defense with 6 tackles and an Interception. A Wrong Move: The play of QB Michael Vick was not only admired by the Eagles and the Eagles fans in this game, but also was admired by Cowboys HB Tashard Choice. Choice, a youthful Cowboys HB, made a bad decision on his part in the eyes of Cowboys fans by asking Michael Vick to autograph his gloves; Vick signed during postgame handshakes. Choice is likely to be torn apart by Cowboys fans, but we Eagles fans thoroughly enjoyed it. “Won’t Do it Again”: After DeSean Jackson’s celebratory Touchdown, he stated that he will not do it again. He said he was hurting after he did it and he also stated that it was stupid on his part. Eagles fans enjoyed it (picture thanks to Kyle Scott of http://www.CrossingBroad.com.) Tweet of the Night: Our Tweet of the night belongs to Eagles Fullback Leonard Weaver who said “All haters please report to the office?” Injury Report:MLB Stewart Bradley (dislocated elbow) will have MRI in morning ... DE Brandon Graham (knee), MLB Keenan Clayton (knee sprain) and WR DeSean Jackson all listed by Reid in injury report. DeSean Jackson was reportedly “limping pretty badly” in the locker room (reported by Tim McManus of PhillySportsDaily and 97.5 the Fanatic). Eagles/Cowboys Preview
By Kevin K
The Eagles enter Dallas a little different than the last time they were here. There is no air guitar, no trash talk, none of it … just two football teams looking to beat the heck out of each other.
The Eagles enter Dallas with the best offense in the NFL (400.7 YPG) and an 8-4 record on the season. The Cowboys enter play with a 4-8 record with the fifth best passing team (265.9 YPG) in the NFL; two explosive offenses going at it for the first time this season.
The rejuvenated Cowboys have played well under Jason Garrett and look to move past the NFC East leading Eagles tonight in Dallas.
Dallas will have a little help tonight from the injury bug, as once again Eagles CB Asante Samuel has been ruled out of this game. As I said, the Cowboys have the fifth best Passing Offense in the NFL and look to use it against a weakened Eagles secondary.
The Eagles defense is set to have their hands full in Dallas tonight as the Cowboys not only have a top Passing game, but since Garrett has taken over, has utilized their three-headed monster at running back. The Eagles defense has to stop the high flying Cowboys offense in order to win this football game, which I believe the Eagles will.
Let’s look at the other side of this rivalry, the Eagles offense. The Eagles offense is the best offense in the NFL and looks to work against the 23rd NFL Ranked Defense in the NFL. The Eagles have to throw the ball against a weak Cowboys secondary in order to win this game. The Cowboys are the 28th ranked Passing Defense in the NFL and with how Michael Vick and this Eagles passing game has played, expect them to explode against the weak Cowboys defense.
All in all, this Sunday Night Football game looks to be very explosive offensively. The loss of Asante Samuel will hurt the Eagles defense, but I look for the Eagles to come out strong and take it to the Cowboys.
Eagles Key: Stop the Eagles killer, TE Jason Witten. You stop him over the middle, you will stay in this game.
A Look at the Spread: The Eagles are 3.5 point favorites over the Cowboys tonight. I advise you to stay away from this game, being it is a rivalry game and anything can happen.
Prediction: Eagles will win this game, but it will be close; Eagles by 3.
