Eagles Make 49ers 0-5
By Kevin K

note: I missed the game because I was watching the Phillies, however, I was paying attention to the Eagles score. Do not be too critical due to the fact I missed most of this football game.

The Eagles entered San Francisco with a huge question mark everywhere on the team. The offensive line has been weak and the Eagles QB’s just seem to continue to get hurt. The Eagles defense has struggled to stop the run and the Tight End. And the Eagles Special Teams has had trouble stopping everything.

The Eagles entered Sunday night against the best 0-4 team in football. The 49ers have barely lost games this season and continue to be the unluckiest team in the NFL.

Kevin Kolb got the start for the Eagles as Michael Vick is still suffering from a rib injury that occurred versus the Redskins the week before. Kolb looked good for the Eagles as he completed his first 8 passes and was driving for the Eagles. Kolb ended the game going 21 for 31 for 253 yards and a TD. Kolb was also under a lot of pressure during the game as OT Jason Peters went down with an injury and OT King Dunlap replaced him. Kolb was constantly under a rush, however, he was cool, calm, and collected and drove the Eagles down field.

Kolb wasn’t the only notable Eagle to take off on Sunday night. LeSean McCoy impressed with a broken rib and all. McCoy had 18 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown, including a 29 yard rush. McCoy also had 5 receptions for 46 yards, however, dropped to the ground before a crucial first down in the fourth quarter that forced the Eagles to punt the ball away. McCoy’s mistake could have cost the Eagles the game.

The Eagles had a big lead in the fourth quarter and seemed to be pouring it on, until they fell asleep again. The Eagles almost lost the game in the fourth quarter after falling asleep, something they usually do when they have a big lead. The Eagles had the fans sweating it out in the final two minutes (Phillies over at this point, all eyes on the Eagles). Alex Smith was driving the 49ers down field, until a Trevard Lindley interception ended the game and gave the Eagles a victory.

The Eagles were very worrisome at the end of the game and have to learn that they cannot allow comebacks like they have so far this season, if they want to be a playoff team.

Eagles (3-2) defeated the 49ers (0-5) 27-24

Eagles/49ers Preview
By Kevin K

The Eagles head into San Francisco on Sunday night to face off against the 0-4 49ers, but the Eagles should not take them lightly. The Eagles defense against the Redskins a week ago showed that they still have trouble stopping the run and the Tight End. This is definitely going to be a problem for the Eagles this week as they play against one of the top running backs and tight ends in the NFL.

Player(s) to Stop: The Eagles have to stop the running game of Frank Gore. Gore is a gritty half back that can run in between the tackles and explode into the Eagles secondary. The Eagles must stop Gore to stop the 49ers offense from scoring. Another player to look out for is Vernon Davis. Davis is one of the top Tight Ends in the league and the Eagles have had difficulty stopping the TE in the past and this week will be no different.

Reunion: A story line that no one is talking about is that the Eagles will be playing against their former HB Brian Westbrook. Westbrook has had little playing time in San Fran and has proclaimed the 2010 season as “frustrating”. So far this season Westbrook has had four total plays in four games for a total of six yards from scrimmage; this coming from a guy who, in his best year, had over 2,000 yards from scrimmage with the Eagles. Westbrook recognizes the reality, however, that he's just not going to push Frank Gore for playing time. "Frank is a great running back. He's done so many things to help this team win," Westbrook said. "It's hard to take him off the field because he's so explosive with the ball in his hands. You understand that, but you also understand there are spots when you can get in the game. You try to take advantage of those opportunities." 49ers coach Mike Singletary can't say whether Westbrook is going to get involved in the 49ers' offense against the Eagles. "We'll figure it out," he said. "It depends on the game, the tempo of the game, the style of the game. But we're going to try and get him out there. How much, I don't know at this point."

A look at the spread: Eagles are 3 point favorites over the 49ers. This game is too close to call for me. The 49ers may be 0-4 but they definitely have the team that could beat the Eagles. My advice is to stay away from this game if you are betting and just enjoy it.

Out for the Eagles: QB Michael Vick, CB Asante Samuel, WR Riley Cooper
Addition: WR Chad Hall signed from Practice Squad
